Alford’s biggest two musical organisations, Alford Silver Band and the Elizabethan Singers will join forces in St Wilfrid’s Church, Alford on the evening of Saturday 24th June for a musical extravaganza that is not to be missed.
“Both the band and the choir are immensely popular in the area,” said the band’s vice chairman, Mike Green, “so bringing them together in a building so acoustically excellent as St Wilfrid’s seemed a natural progression.
People who have never heard the band play before are often surprised at the diversity of music we play. And the choir too has a wide range of musical styles. And both the band and the choir are full of very talented musicians. It will be an exciting venture.”
Both organisations will perform their own programmes on the evening as well as joining together with the band providing the backing for the choir. The two musical directors, Richard Walker (band) and Andrew Willoughby (choir) are working closely together, and are planning a finale that will leave everyone leaving the church at the end of the evening with a big grin on their faces.
Tickets £7.50/£5.00 (under 18s) and available from Hunts Coaches, JB Flower Designs or on the door.
